America's waters and marine life face toxic pollution, overfishing, urban sprawl. Help realize our vision: safe drinking water, pristine waterways, thriving ecosystems locally and nationwide.
This story comes from a parent whose daughter spent three days at CBF's environmental education center on Fox Island near Crisfield, MD:
I remember when we went to visit a new school when Ellen was in the 5th grade, they said she'd be studying the Chesapeake Bay in 7th grade. She rolled her eyes - she had several curriculum units on the Bay at her elementary school. But last night she was not rolling her eyes - she was explaining to us, step by step, the connection between our daily actions and the living, breathing ecosystem of the Bay. If every school child could experience what Ellen did over the last three days, you'd have a generation of children ready, willing and eager to save the Bay.
CBF's education, restoration, litigation and advocacy initiatives aim to restore and protect natural resources for current and future generations, like Ellen's. Your donation will support field experiences for students of all ages, teachers, and principals. It also funds stream clean-ups, plantings of trees and underwater grasses, oyster restoration, and other preservation projects. In addition, your dollars will support our advocacy initiatives so CBF can continue to spread our message and, ultimately, Save the Bay!
